| #1 | In the installation instructions section I read where you said 7 psi on gas and 9psi on alky. Is there a formula for figuring how much fuel pressure would be enough to supply a certain combination on alky and what information would be needed to figure it? Or is the fuel pressure deal just trial and error and 9 psi has seemed to work best? This isn't a direct question about your system but you seem to be very knowledgable on the wh0le fuel system in general so I thought I would ask. |

| #2 | Reid,
9 PSI for methanol carburetors is what most of the carb builders recommend. There is not an equation for fuel pressure verus engine demand.
We tested needle and seat assemblies from .097" to .160" at fuel pressures from 5 PSI to 12 PSI on our wet flow bench. We adjusted the floats to yield the same fuel level with each combination. We then measured the drop in fuel level when we opened a .200" orifice in the bottom of the bowl. There was not a significant difference an any of the combinations.
Every time we did something that should yield more fuel flow.....it was negated when we adjusted the floats down to yield the same fuel level as before the change.
That convinced us we needed to develop a different fuel bowl.
