I had my pump apart recently to replace the o-rings. While I had the pump apart I took both the inlet and outlet fittings out and discovered that they both had o-rings on the fittings. I had read in the FAQ that ( The Race Pump takes a special fitting...it is shorter than a standard AN Port fitting and doesn't use an O-ring.) Does this need to be addressed or not? Also, on a different subject, can I purchase all of the Teflon internals of the pump? (2 teflon o-rings, 1 big 1 small and the Teflon washer/spring locator ) and how much would it cost? Thanks.

Reid,

The 2005 pumps did have an O-ring on the fittings. It was smaller than a standard AN spec O-ring and didn't work very well. For 2006 we made the fittings about .030" longer and discontinued hard anodizing the fittings. This allows the fitting to seal on the bottom, against the pump body.

We have to have the pump in house to convert it to the "Gold" spec with Teflon rings. The front ring must be sized after it is installed. The cost is $75.00.

I should have mentioned that it was a 2005 pump that was converted to "Gold Spec's", but still has the o-ring's on the inlet and outlet fittings. Can I still get the o-rings for these fittings or am I stuck with this set-up? They seem to be sealing fine for now. The reason for asking if I could get all of the teflon replacement o-rings is one, the pump started losing all the pressure after a minute of running. After totally disassembling the pump and looking at everything I found a nick on the back side of the big Teflon o-ring where it seals on the inward stroke, which I'm guessing is letting it bleed off. Two, since this has happened I was wanting to keep a spare of all the o-rings so it could be repaired at the track if something else happens in the future (It is very easy to disassemble and reassemble) I didn't see any of the teflon parts in the service parts section.  Can they be purchased seperatly or with the rubber o-ring seal kit? Thanks

If your fittings are installed and don't leak, you should be good forever on the O-rings.

I would have to think something else is up with your fuel system. The Teflon ring can't catch on anything to nick it while the pump is operating.....its possible it could catch on the inlet port when you disassmeble it, but I have never seen that.

If the pump will not pump and everthing looks fine when you take it apart, we slide to exhaust ring side to side, but don't remove it because it will not pop back to shape after you squeeze it through the port, and look for debris.

I have no problem selling you the Teflon rings, but I have never seen a situation where they needed to be replaced..but yours might be the first.

Just order the 1000 O-ring kit and specify that you want the Teflon rings. If you want the O-rings for the fittings, just ask and we will include them.
